Advanced Concrete Construction for a State-of-the-Art Medical Facility
East & Westbrook Construction proudly partnered on the construction of a state-of-the-art Proton Therapy Facility, the second facility of its kind completed in the United States. This highly specialized project required extensive planning, technical expertise, and precise execution to meet the demanding structural requirements of a proton therapy treatment center.
Our team self-performed the project's structural demolition, civil/sitework, structural concrete, and structural steel scopes, providing seamless coordination from start to finish. In addition, East & Westbrook's in-house fabrication team manufactured the facility's 10-foot-by-8-foot-by-1.5-inch steel shielding wall, demonstrating the value of our integrated self-perform capabilities.
More than 1,200 cubic yards of concrete were placed throughout the project, including two critical mass concrete placements designed to support the specialized equipment housed within the facility:
• 500-cubic-yard wall placement featuring wall sections up to 7 feet 8 inches thick and 14 feet tall.
• 350-cubic-yard roof placement with a 5-foot-thick concrete slab.
