A history of building excellence
Since 1977, we have been helping our clients build some of the most complex structures in the country while still building a powerhouse team of construction professionals that, together, are innovating the industry. Below are a few milestones that have helped get us to where we are today.
In 1977, Jon Westbrook & George East founded East & Westbrook Construction. Their humble beginnings included working out of their homes while pouring concrete on residential and small commercial projects.
In 1979, the East & Westbrook team moved into our very first building which is still being used by some of our team today.
First industrial project
In 1982, we received the opportunity to work on our first industrial project with a well-known, local power generation company. They are still a client to this day.
World-renowned chemical-producing site
In 1987, we were asked to perform a small maintenance project at a world-renowned chemical-producing site. We are still working on various projects and have a maintenance team onsite every day.
In 1991, we hit the road, serving clients outside of the great state of Kentucky. Fast forward to today; we now have four regional offices and have worked in over half the states in the country.
First $1MM general contracting project
In 1995, we were awarded our first $1MM general contracting project.
E&W hires first engineer
In 2008, we added our first engineer, Chad Snellen, to the E&W team as a project manager, and he is still with us today. Chad now serves as our Executive Vice President of Estimating.
Welcomed our new president
In 2008, Jonathan Westbrook, the oldest son of founder Jon Westbrook, was named the President.
1st KY Governor's Safety & Health Award
In 2018, we were awarded our first Governor's Safety & Health Award by the state of Kentucky.
America's Safest Place to Work
In 2019, we earned the prestigious title of America’s Safest Place to Work.
Construction through global pandemic
In 2020, our world experienced a global pandemic. With what could have been the most challenging time in our history, East & Westbrook responded, continued to work safely, and came out of 2020 better together.
Best Place to Work in Kentucky
In 2023, we were voted one of the Best Places to Work in Kentucky.
In 2023, we announced our expansion into Bradenton, Florida, Huntington, West Virginia, and Lebanon, Tennessee, commemorating this expansion with ribbon-cutting ceremonies at each of our three new office locations.
