POSITION SUMMARY

This position operates heavy equipment for the purpose of construction, demolition, and/or excavation.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Operates heavy equipment machinery such as:  skid steer, backhoe (front and rear bucket), excavator (mini and large), telehandler, roller compactor, dozer, and trac loader.
  • Prepares equipment and conducts routine inspections prior to operation to ensure it is safe and in working condition.
  • Identifies and addresses potential safety hazards.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Utilize site level, laser level and grade rod.
  • Read and interpret prints and civil, structural and underground utilities.
  • Plan excavation and spoils management operations.
  • Excavate footings, trenches, mass foundations and grade for site development, land clearing, building pads, ditches, retention basins, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years of related experience
  • Self-starter and customer focused
  • Good communication and organization skills

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 75% sitting, 10% walking, and 15% standing. The job is performed outdoors, indoors and in various geographic locations.
