POSITION SUMMARY

The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel vehicles and equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems
  • Utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes.
  • Replaces and/or refurbishes parts.
  • Maintains maintenance logs according to requirements.
  • Ensure services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures.
  • Complete annual DOT inspections on required vehicles.
  • Identifies and addresses potential safety hazards.
  • Adheres to all safety protocols and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A
  • Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology preferred
  • Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job
  • Minimum of one (1) year of diesel mechanic experience required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 15% walking, 15% laying, and 65% standing. The job is performed outdoors, indoors and in various geographic locations.
